Wait! Wait! Weight?

So there's no gym in Beefie and I really need to get in shape. Mostly because my self esteem is entirely dependent on it. True story. Anyway, I've been contemplating ways to do this. Here's what I've considered:
But I'm starting a whole new slate. One in which I will be more motivated to reach my fitness goals. Which are:
- Bike riding (I do, it's just not a work out and no I'm not about to start firing down the highways here, I don't have a death wish)

- Yoga videos (I figure that laughing when I screw up, won't offend anyone or destroy their harmony with the Earth)

- Befriending the Balance Ball (About two months ago I rolled it-yep still inflated, into the closet and haven't messed with it since)

- hmmm.....any other ideas???
But I'm starting a whole new slate. One in which I will be more motivated to reach my fitness goals. Which are:
- Run a full mile
- Straighten the hunch in my shoulders every massage therapist tells me I have (as if I can't see it)
I'd heard about it...

I have a sister that lived in WY for a while, she told me about these anti-meth billboards a long time ago. I didn't get an actual picture of the one I saw because I was so shocked by it that taking a picture (something I consider a joyful thing to do) didn't even occur to me. The campaign is the Wyoming Meth Project....go to www.wyomingmethproject.org
Sadly they are the state that uses this drug the most. Several other states have started similar campaigns, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, Illinois and Hawaii.
I think every state should do this. I believe that what we ignore ultimately hurts us. Strange as this sounds but sometimes I worry about the future that my nieces and nephews and my friend's beautiful children will inherit. I don't think we should tolerate the use of any drug, whether it's legalizing marijuana, worshiping cocaine addicted movie "stars"/"models" or refusing to shed the harsh light of the media on those drug addicted persons on the fringes of society because it is "graphic or offensive."
I believe the last one ultimately de-glamorizes the notion of drugs like this one. I'll admit it, I googled when I heard that Fergie had been on meth. But you hear that and you look at her now (yeah she has a candle face and I would never want to emulate her behavior, but I'm also not 9 years old and in the wrong company), but you get what I mean. I can't help but think that a thought like that could form in a kid's mind and that would be all. A subconscious message rationalizing that "it'll be alright" in the split second that the kid gives in. I'm not blaming Fergie for any of it (I do like her music), but I'm just making a point here.
On another note, I will encourage all my friends and relatives that have children or young adults to educate them. I worked for a non-profit drug prevention clearinghouse and I learned a lot by looking at the informational materials they had there, but nothing- nothing ever got to me as this campaign has. Like I said before, I'd heard about it, I just didn't fully comprehend the magnitude of it. Even if you never see the stuff and don't know any users of any of it. Educate anyway, it's better that they know and never face it, than to not be prepared and become a victim of an awfully bad decision.
I'll only post this for a while, as it is gruesome and I want to keep my blog a happier place. But this is part of the world we live in and I really feel it's important to shed some light in that dark corner.

As an avid and unapologetic follower of one of the most decadent guilty pleasures contemporary television has to offer, I've decided to extend my journey of self discovery to include answers to the question of who I really am. This bold task led to take several accurate tests that cover serious topics including but not limited to wardrobe composition and social climbing/career aspirations. These tests brought to the light important insight about my personality. After all these were legitimate personality tests. Having fully immersed in and analyzed every question and given my absolute most accurate response, I reveal to you my personality matches:

Always able to keep a cool head amidst the chaos of her bickering brood, Jeana is a powerhouse realtor and the one most likely to dole out the best advice for the other girls' problems. Being Jeana means you are a blast to party with, and although you tend to have high expectations of the people you love, it's only because you want them to realize their true potential.

You are Kelly! You're a self-made woman with savvy, ambition, and sass. You're a true socializer, who is well known in just about every social circle. You can party hard with the best of them, but you also believe that family comes first.
Energetic is an understatement-- you're always on the go. Driven and competitive, you want as much accomplised as possible! You have a variety of interests but business is at the top of your priorities. You're a true leader and you put yourself wholly into all your endeavors.
The jury of course is still out....looking for a therapist!

So my friend Labatt was telling me about a certain website in which people post text messages. Sheer genius, I actually found motivation to watch tv in one such post. I'll share it with you...
(773): i just turned barefoot contessa into a drinking game. everytime she uses a knife, butter or salt i drink.
You see what I mean- profound meaning and a good use for cherry vodka.

So I thought for today I'd let you see my darker side. (See my photo in sidebar)
Also found out something about myself today...I am addicted to gardening! It's true I am secretly a 60 year old. I'd like to give a shout out to the Dallas Arboretum for putting me over the edge. Your greenery and naked statues doing odd poses were inspirational and have changed my life...and my bank account. Thank you.

Well naturally...most of my life, I have done just that. However experiencing it as a single almost 30-something.. that is entirely different.
Entertainment is something you work very diligently at. If you're lucky you may even have fun. Some things to do would include riding your bike around town, looking for different dog breeds. Plant a garden...this ensures you will have to spend time watering and pulling weeds. One thing about plotting out your small town days, plan ahead always be thinking of the next idle hour.
Sit on the porch and wave as people drive by over and over and over. (Some people do not put as much effort into their daily activities and pass their time draining a full tank of gas.) Never finish a project- again planning ahead. Example, my to do list every week says 'Laundry' this does not happen every week, because it takes a while to do and that could make for a lovely Saturday. Full of freshness and folding.
But it is not all fun and games either.
One oh so dreadful pitfall in the society of the small townies. Relationships. If you don't have one, someone will find you one. Whether they now you or not. The names of unaware townie men are so innocently offered up. Sometimes you find yourself trying so hard to politely turn down these rude intrusive offerings. You may risk entering the dark side of the grapevine, but hey somewhere someone else might just think you are engaged. Yes, I have heard the rumor.
Always be wary of said grapevine. It can and has destroyed lives.
The townies are good people (I are one- snort!). Hospitable, curious, and often helpful (the good kind). And hey the traffic isn't so bad.

Well natually, I have important information to share. Here it goes- I'll number them so that you can tell they are different lessons. I have only included the most recent list. Ready. Oh yes, good one, just thought of another one. Ok ok, I'm ready to type this now.
- If it's been raining, it looks like rain is eminent, the streets are running with the cool clear liquid, wear a rain proof coat or poncho or tarp!
- Whatever you happen to do in your profession, explain things twice. Do this at once- in the beginning because chances are you will repeat them again anyway. That way your annoyance is justified (and yes you will be annoyed, as you have already explained it twice!).
- This is for the singletons and homemakers: Clean your refrigerator out every week. Dangerous things may reveal themselves at the most inappropriate moment.
- Consult with your prospective cable company, find out if Bravo is part of the available channel line-up. This is very important and will save you shock and disappointment.
- Never ask a man about his horse...or his mother's for that matter.
- Say no, when you really are not interested in buying or trying something. If the salesperson is in your face, feel free to loudly say no. They obviously have a hearing problem. Why else would they invade your space to hear your reply?
- Judge the person waxing your eyebrows very very hashly. Should you feel uncomfortable with the arch of their brow, decline from having them work on yours.
